The World Bank has cut its global growth forecast for 2026 to 2.5 percent, the lowest level since the COVID-19 pandemic, warning that the ongoing conflict in the West Asia is driving up energy prices, fueling inflation, and slowing economic activity worldwide. The lender said developing nations are being hit hardest and announced up to 60 billion dollars in immediate support, with additional funding available if conditions worsen.

The report warned that prolonged disruptions to energy and fertilizer supplies could further weaken growth and worsen food insecurity, particularly in Africa and conflict-affected regions. Calling the 2020s a potential "lost decade" for many developing economies, the World Bank urged coordinated global action and an end to ongoing conflicts to prevent deeper economic and humanitarian crises.
