The Maharashtra Women Empowerment Bill, 2026, which seeks to provide loans, insurance and various government schemes to all women in the state working in agriculture and allied sectors, was unanimously passed in the Legislative Assembly yesterday. Agriculture Minister Datta Bharne introduced the bill in the House.

Members of various parties, including Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Pankaja Munde, Aditi Tatkare, Aditya Thackeray, Bhaskar Jadhav and Nana Patole, participated in the discussion on this bill and expressed their support for the bill.

Responding to the discussion, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar said that this is not just a bill but a historic justice for the labor, dignity and rights of women farmers who strengthen the agricultural economy of Maharashtra. She expressed confidence that this bill will bring about a positive change in the lives of lakhs of women farmers in the state. Women, who have been doing all the agricultural work shoulder to shoulder with Baliraja, have not yet been given separate recognition as farmers. She said that this bill will work to remove this historical injustice.

According to this bill, separate help centers and grievance redressal mechanisms will be established to resolve the problems of women farmers.
