Against the backdrop of the 'Orange Alert' issued by the Uttarakhand Meteorological Department, Vinod Kumar Suman, Secretary of the Department of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, convened a meeting with officials from all districts to conduct a detailed review of the situation. During this meeting, the situation was assessed based on information received from the districts, and necessary directives were issued. Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman stated that the Meteorological Department has also issued an 'Orange Alert' for Monday and Tuesday; consequently, all districts have been instructed to remain on 'High Alert' (in a state of extreme vigilance). He directed all districts to ensure that all weather-related advisories and information are immediately disseminated to the general public through the 'State Emergency Operations Centre' and the 'District Emergency Operations Centres,' thereby enabling people to take necessary precautions in a timely manner. The Meteorological Department has issued an 'Orange Alert' for May 4th covering the districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, and Champawat; and for May 5th covering the districts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. During this period, there is a forecast for lightning strikes, hailstorms, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds blowing at speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
