US Military Assets Deployed in Iran Conflict

2 U.S.-flagged merchant vessels crossed through the Strait of Hormuz on June 15, as U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers operate in the gulf.

U.S. Central Command said in a statement that American forces are actively assisting efforts to restore transit for commercial shipping.

Earlier, Iran said that it had forced a U.S. warship to turn back from entering the Strait of Hormuz, although U.S. Central Command quickly denied reports of a missile strike.

A senior Iranian official said that Iran had fired a warning shot and that it was unclear whether the warship had been damaged.
