Ukraine seeks Turkey meet for Zelenskyy, Putin

Ukraine has asked Turkey to host a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Vladimir Putin in an effort to revive stalled peace talks.

The request was made by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who said Kyiv would be willing to consider any location other than Belarus or Russia for a meeting with Putin.

Reacting to the proposal, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Putin can only meet Zelenskyy for the purpose of finalising agreements on the conflict.

He added that any such meeting would require careful preparation and “political will from the Kyiv regime, and for now, we see no such political will.”

The Turkish presidency said President Tayyip Erdogan told NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a meeting that Ankara is making efforts to revive negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and bring together the leaders of the warring sides.
