Two passenger trains collided near Bedford, about 100 kilometres north of London, killing one person and injuring nearly 90 others.

The crash occurred on Friday evening on a rail line south of Bedford involving two East Midlands Railway services. Emergency crews rushed to the scene. One person died at the site, while 11 passengers suffered critical injuries, 22 sustained serious injuries, and 56 others were treated for minor injuries.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed condolences to the victim’s family and wished a speedy recovery for those injured. An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
