Regarding the protest at Jantar Mantar, the Supreme Court has said that the Constitution gives every citizen the right to protest peacefully and this right must be protected.

The Supreme Court emphasised the right to peaceful protest and clarified that protest does not mean lathi-charge or violence. It also demanded a fair inquiry into the role of both the police and the protesters.

The Supreme Court has said that uniform guidelines are needed for the entire country on this issue. The petitions filed in this matter will be heard tomorrow.
