August 8, Mumbai A total of seven people were killed and eleven passengers were injured in a road accident that took place in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh this morning. A private bus fell into a gorge while it was going from Bairagarh to Chamba. As soon as the information about the accident was received, a police team immediately reached the spot and relief and rescue work is underway on a war footing. The injured have been shifted to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Hospital in Chamba for treatment. The work of identifying the deceased is still underway. Also, efforts are underway to find out the cause of the accident and teams from various departments have been deployed at the spot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the accident. He has expressed his condolences to the families of those who died in the accident and has expressed his best wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured on social media.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital by locals and their condition is reported to be critical. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway in this regard, said the local police.
