Giving top priority to the safety of fishermen who go for deep sea fishing, state-of-the-art satellite phones are being provided to fishermen under the Mukhyamantri Matsyasampada Yojana.

Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane informed that this initiative is being implemented jointly by the Fisheries Department and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

This initiative was launched under the Mukhyamantri Matsyasampada Yojana at Mantralaya on the occasion of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' birthday. On this occasion, satellite phones were distributed to five fishermen in a representative manner by the hands of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Through this satellite phone, fishermen will be able to communicate even while at sea, and both incoming and outgoing communication facilities will be available.

The Fisheries Department said that this facility is being provided with the aim of providing immediate assistance to fishermen in emergencies at sea and increasing their safety.
