The qualifications of officers to investigate crimes have been prescribed under the 'Public Examinations (Prevention of Improper Procedures) Amendment Act, 2026'.

According to this law, no officer below the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police or Assistant Commissioner of Police can investigate these crimes.

However, the Central Government will have the power to transfer the investigation of any case to the Central Investigation Agency.
