Public Examination Act will be made stricter: Jitendra Singh

During the discussion on the 'Public Examinations (Amendment) Bill' in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh presented the government's position. He said that the law is being made more stringent to increase the transparency and credibility of the examination system.

Dr. Jitendra Singh informed the House that as per the amendment, the penalty for examination-related malpractices is being increased from Rs 1 crore to Rs 5 crore. Also, the provision to debar a service provider found guilty of malpractice from conducting the examination — which was earlier four years under the 2024 Act — is now being increased to eight years.

He emphasized that these strict provisions are aimed at ensuring transparency in the examination system and effectively curbing paper leaks and other malpractices.
