The Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat has announced that the Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature will commence on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Vidhan Bhavan, Mumbai. For the first time, no physical entry passes will be printed for access to the building; instead, a ‘facial recognition system’—integrated into the Vidhan Bhavan e-entry system—will be implemented for everyone, ranging from presiding officers, the Chief Minister, and staff members to personal assistants and visitors. This decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by the Hon. Chairman of the Legislative Council, Prof. Ram Shinde, and the Hon. Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Adv. Rahul Narwekar, and will be implemented with strict adherence to protocol.

To manage crowds within the Vidhan Bhavan premises and facilitate security checks, the ‘facial recognition system’ is replacing printed entry passes for this Monsoon Session. The Legislature Secretariat has informed all concerned parties—including the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Ministers, Ministers of State, relevant establishments, representatives from electronic and print media, IAS and IPS officers, other staff, Secretaries, Officers on Special Duty (OSD), and personal assistants—about this new procedure. The process of submitting information online via the e-office system and receiving necessary details via email has already begun and will continue through the holidays on June 20 and 21, 2026. A detailed circular regarding this matter has been issued by the Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat. The Secretariat has also appealed to everyone to adopt this new entry system and cooperate with the security personnel.
