Under the 'Viksit Bharat, Viksit West Bengal' campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several major projects related to agriculture, rural development, fisheries, and railways in West Bengal's Hooghly district. This event is viewed as a significant step for the agricultural sector and rural development. During the program, the Prime Minister will release the 23rd installment of the 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi' (PM-KISAN) scheme from Tarakeswar. Under this initiative, approximately ₹18,880 crore will be distributed to over 9.44 crore farmers across the country via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Farmers in West Bengal alone will receive around ₹907 crore. Additionally, the 'Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana' will be launched, covering the districts of Purulia, Darjeeling, Alipurduar, and Jhargram. The scheme aims to boost agricultural productivity and promote crop diversification, storage facilities, and rural employment. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has stated that this program will mark a transformative step for agriculture and rural development in Eastern India, particularly in West Bengal.
