President Murmu, PM Modi Visit Odisha Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Odisha today, where he is joined by President Droupadi Murmu in a rare joint visit to the state.

The two leaders are visiting Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj to participate in celebrations marking 2 years of the Odisha Government. During the visit, they will offer prayers at the sacred Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera groves.

This trip carries significant importance for the state's development and cultural heritage.

As part of the itinerary, they are visiting the local Skill Centre and Pahadpur School, highlighting ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening education, skill development, and socio-economic empowerment in tribal and rural areas.

Later in the day, the President and the Prime Minister will participate in a major programme at Rairangpur marking 2 years of the Odisha government. The event, themed “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara”, will witness the inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects worth over ₹47,600 crore.

These projects span across key sectors including energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, health, education, tourism, and irrigation, with a specific focus on boosting development in tribal and rural regions.

Key Project Highlights:

Energy Security: The foundation stone will be laid for the 600-megawatt Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project. Additionally, the Stage-II expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station (comprising two units of 660 megawatts each) is being launched.

Clean Technology: Launch of the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district, aimed at cleaner utilization of domestic coal resources.

Public Infrastructure & Health: Inauguration of a 300-bedded District Headquarters Hospital at Boudh, 24 Atal bus stands across Odisha, and the Nayagarh Town Bypass on NH-57.

Community & Sports: Inauguration of a new sports complex and a tribal research centre at Rairangpur.

This massive ₹47,600 crore development package is set to significantly boost public infrastructure, enhance regional connectivity, ensure energy security, and create substantial employment opportunities for the people of Odisha.
