President Draupadi Murmu interacted with the Indian community in Bucharest on the concluding day of her visit to Romania. She appreciated the contribution of the Indian community in Romania and described it as an important pillar of the growing partnership between India and Romania.

Indians living abroad are forever connected to their homeland. Through their work, dedication and success, they enhance the pride of every Indian, said President Draupadi Murmu.

The President said that his discussions with Romanian President Nicuşor Dan and other leaders have shown a commitment to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries. He highlighted that cooperation between India and Romania is expanding in various areas such as trade, defence, renewable energy, digital technology, education, research, healthcare, science and technology, artificial intelligence, innovation and advanced manufacturing.

Referring to the Free Trade Agreement signed between India and the European Union earlier this year, the President expressed confidence that the early implementation of this agreement would create new opportunities for trade and investment with EU member states, including Romania.

The President particularly appreciated the contribution of Indian professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, healthcare workers and students to the development of Romania. He said that people-to-people contacts and mutual cooperation between the two countries are an important feature of India-Romania friendship.

The President expressed confidence that the partnership between India and Romania will become even broader and stronger in the coming days.
