Phase-2 census notification issued for Census 2027

Home Ministry notifies Phase-2 of Census 2027, with details on parents’ birth, passport information and voluntary Aadhaar collection.

The Centre has released the notification for the population enumeration phase of Census 2027

A Home Ministry notification said the population enumeration exercise in snow-bound areas of the four northern states/UTs will be conducted from September 1-30, preceded by a self-enumeration window from August 17-30. This means that the questionnaire for Phase 2 of the Census will also be notified soon.

In a first, Phase 2 will collect the date and place of birth of parents, the key factors that determine citizenship. The Phase 2 questionnaire will also record passport details, where available. Aadhaar numbers will be collected on a voluntary basis.
