The Maha Vikas Aghadi boycotted the tea party hosted by the state government on the eve of the state legislature's monsoon session. Leaders of the opposition parties held a joint press conference in Mumbai yesterday to clarify their stance on the matter.

Leaders from the Maha Vikas Aghadi, including Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve and MLAs Bhaskar Jadhav, Jayant Patil, and Satej Patil, were present at the press conference.

The opposition alleged that the government is neglecting issues concerning the state's farmers and women. They described the law and order situation in the state as worrying and pointed out that large-scale tree felling is taking place in the name of development. Furthermore, opposition leaders accused the government of failing to implement necessary measures to address the looming threat of a severe water shortage amidst the potential impact of El Niño. They stated that the decision to boycott the tea party was taken to protest against these issues.

Jayant Patil also alleged that the posts of Leader of the Opposition in both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council have been left vacant, terming this an insult to democratic values and the Constitution.
