Odisha Targets Leadership In Green Hydrogen Sector

The state government is taking several steps to make Odisha the Green Hydrogen Hub of the country, said Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

Addressing the 7th International Energy Conference and Exhibition of CII held in New Delhi, he said that the state has a target of producing 3 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030.

He said that an integrated value chain is being developed for steel, aluminium, refinery and fertiliser industries with the setting up of Green Hydrogen Hubs at Paradip and Gopalpur.

Rs 500 crore is being invested in Green Hydrogen Testing Lab and Centre of Excellence at IIT Bhubaneswar, while research, innovation and technology development are being promoted through collaborations with international institutions like NTU, Singapore.

The Deputy Chief Minister expressed hope that Odisha will emerge as a leading state in India's clean energy transition, targeting global export markets while meeting domestic demand.
