Heavy rains like cloudbursts that lashed some parts of Nagpur yesterday caused waterlogging in low-lying areas, disrupting normal life. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed in Nagpur today that students from three schools were rescued safely during this rain.

Speaking to the media after a program organized on the occasion of World Tiger Day, the Chief Minister said, "Climate change is very worrying and in districts like Raigad, Palghar and Nashik, the rainfall that used to take a fortnight to a month is now falling in a single day. Due to this, there is a huge strain on the natural drainage system and flood-like situation is arising in many places."

He also mentioned that there is additional strain on the local self-government bodies' systems to deal with such situations. He said that there is a need to make the disaster management system more capable in the context of changing climate.

Reacting to Manoj Jarange's statement regarding caste certificates for the Maratha community, the Chief Minister said that the certificates are being issued to eligible citizens who have requested them, and the number of pending cases is also now less.

Speaking about the cases registered during the student protests in Maharashtra after the NEET paper leak, Chief Minister Fadnavis said that these cases are mainly related to violation of the curfew order and that orders have been given to the police to withdraw it.

Chief Minister Fadnavis also mentioned that the Maharashtra Police handled the situation with great patience and sensitivity during the student protests.
