The Supreme Court today directed doctors' associations and petitioners to submit their responses to the affidavit submitted by the Central Government regarding changes in the format of the NEET-UG exam.

The matter was heard before a bench of Justices P. S. Narasimha and Alok Aradhe. The court fixed the next hearing for August 19.

In the affidavit submitted to the court by the central government, it has been stated that the option of conducting the NEET-UG exam through computer-based method instead of the written method is under consideration.

The government told the court that it is considering conducting the NEET-UG exam in a single phase using the computer-based method or in two phases like JEE Mains and Advanced.

Meanwhile, doctors' associations have demanded that if a decision is made to conduct computer-based exams, the decision should be announced early so that students have enough time to prepare according to the new system.
