The monsoon has become active in many parts of the country, and the India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains for Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains with thundershowers in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Karnataka.

Heavy rains have also been forecast in the northeastern Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for the next few days. The Meteorological Department has appealed to citizens to take necessary precautions and follow the instructions of the local administration.

Meanwhile, the flood situation in Assam is critical and the Indian Army has continued relief and rescue operations under 'Operation Jal Rahat' at full speed. Citizens stranded in the floods in Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat districts are being shifted to safer places.

Rescue teams are providing medical aid, food grains and other essential supplies to the citizens. Hundreds of citizens have been reported to have been safely evacuated so far.

The Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of heavy rains in Assam for the next few days, and the administration is continuously monitoring the situation.
