A violent confrontation stemming from a long-standing land dispute resulted in a tragedy on Friday morning, September 11, 2026, in Jamvasu village under the Barshitakli taluka of Akola district, Maharashtra. According to local police and eyewitnesses, a commercial Bolero pickup vehicle was deliberately driven into a residential structure multiple times, causing catastrophic damage to the building and leading to the death of an elderly resident. The incident occurred around 8:00 AM, triggering severe panic across the rural locality.

The victim was identified as 75-year-old Sonabai Makharam Jadhav, who was seated inside the house when the vehicle crashed through the perimeter. The structure, belonging to Jagdish Jadhav and Ganesh Jadhav, bore the brunt of repeated high-impact collisions, resulting in a partial roof and wall collapse that trapped the elderly woman underneath the fallen masonry. Emergency medical personnel declared her dead following rescue efforts, while three other family members sustained serious physical injuries and were rushed to a regional hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Mechanism of the Attack and On-Ground Chaos

Video footage recorded by local residents and circulated on digital platforms documented the violent sequence of events:

* Repeated Ramming of the Structure: Preliminary forensic assessments and eyewitness accounts indicated that the pickup driver reversed and rammed the front walls of the residence four to five times consecutively to bring down the structure. * Desperate Attempts by Bystanders: Nearby villagers and relatives attempted to halt the assault by shouting and hurling stones and bricks at the moving vehicle, but the driver continued the maneuvers until structural walls collapsed inward. * Extensive Property Damage: The repeated vehicular collisions wrecked the façade, load-bearing masonry, and interior fittings of the residence, rendering the home uninhabitable.

Police Action and Legal Proceedings

Following emergency alerts from local residents, police teams from the Barshitakli police station and senior district officials rushed to Jamvasu village to restore order and establish security cordons.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police B. Chandrakant Reddy, law enforcement launched immediate operations and apprehended three individuals—identified as Baban Dadarao Ghuge, Rashmika Ghuge, and Sonu Ghuge—in connection with the fatal assault. The offending Bolero pickup vehicle was impounded at the scene for mechanical and forensic evaluation.

Investigating officers stated that a case of murder and related offenses is being registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A heavy police deployment was placed on standby in the village to prevent further retaliatory violence between the disputing factions.
