Addressing a media briefing in New Delhi, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that India continues to closely monitor security and political developments across West Asia. Referring to a recent incident involving two foreign-flagged vessels, the spokesperson confirmed that all 22 Indian seafarers on board are safe. He added that Indian diplomatic missions and relevant government authorities are in constant communication with official channels to ensure the ongoing protection and support of the maritime personnel.

Highlighting key diplomatic engagements, Jaiswal briefed the media on Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth’s official visit to Nepal. During his visit, General Seth was conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army by the President of Nepal, reflecting the deep-rooted military friendship and strategic partnership between the two neighboring nations. Furthermore, the MEA spokesperson touched upon MEA Secretary Sripriya Ranganathan’s official visit to Palestine. During her trip, Secretary Ranganathan reiterated India’s strong commitment as a steadfast development partner and handed over an essential consignment of life-saving medicines to the Palestinian government for local public health needs.

Diplomatic Outreach and Maritime Safety Protocols

India’s proactive diplomatic measures underscore its committed focus on regional stability, international humanitarian assistance, and bilateral defense ties. Government ministries are coordinating closely with international maritime organizations, coastal security agencies, and global shipping authorities to establish real-time tracking and rapid response mechanisms for Indian crew members navigating volatile sea lanes.

By actively monitoring maritime trade routes, enhancing consular assistance frameworks, and upholding long-standing military traditions with partner countries, the government continues to secure national strategic interests and safeguard Indian nationals stationed across international waters. Comprehensive policy guidelines are also being prepared to offer technical training, legal aid, and emergency evacuation protocols for maritime professionals working in high-risk oceanic zones.
