India climbs to eighth in CWG Medal table

India's medal tally reached 15 at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after Dilip Mahadu Gavit won gold and Murali Sreeshankar secured silver.

India continued its strong run at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, adding more medals to its growing tally.

India achieved a remarkable one-two finish in the men's T47 100-metre event, winning both the gold and silver medals. Dilip Mahadu Gavit clocked 10.71 seconds to set a new Commonwealth Games record and secure the gold medal, while Mohammed Basil Morsingankath claimed silver after finishing in 10.83 seconds.

Earlier, Murali Sreeshankar opened India's medal account with a silver medal in the men's long jump. The achievement made him the first Indian long jumper to win two Commonwealth Games medals.

With one gold and two silver medals added to its tally, India's medal count has now risen to 15, comprising three gold, nine silver, and three bronze medals. India has also moved up to eighth position in the overall medal standings.

India's three gold medals at the Games so far have been won by Mirabai Chanu, Sharmila Dhankar, and Dilip Mahadu Gavit.
