Honda Enhances Feature Package to Meet Mid-Size SUV Market Demand

Honda Cars India has officially opened bookings for the refreshed iteration of its mid-size SUV, the Honda Elevate, across authorized dealership networks and digital sales channels. The updated model addresses long-standing customer feedback by incorporating high-demand features that were previously absent from the initial launch lineup. Chief among these additions are a 360-degree surround-view camera system and factory-fitted ventilated front seats, designed to improve driver convenience and passenger comfort in warmer climate conditions.

The decision to update the Elevate comes as the Japanese automaker seeks to consolidate its market share in India's rapidly growing C-segment SUV market. Since its original release, the Elevate has served as a critical volume driver for Honda in India. However, market analysts noted that the absence of premium convenience features positioned it at a relative disadvantage against feature-rich competitors. The latest update reflects an operational shift toward feature parity within the segment.

Comprehensive Interior and Technological Equipment Additions

The primary highlights of the updated Honda Elevate center on interior comfort and cabin technology. The integration of a 360-degree surround-view camera system utilizes multiple exterior optical sensors to project a high-resolution bird's-eye view onto the central touchscreen display. This enhancement assists drivers during tight maneuvering and urban parking scenarios. Complementing the driver assistance tech, the addition of multi-stage ventilated seats for the driver and front passenger provides active cooling through perforated upholstery.

Beyond these headline additions, the refreshed cabin features subtle ergonomic refinements. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment interface receives updated software for smoother wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, alongside enhanced telematics via Honda Connect. On the exterior, the facelifted model retains its upright stance and boxy silhouette while introducing subtle cosmetic updates, including restyled alloy wheels, updated chrome accenting on the front grille, and refreshed color options to distinguish the new model year.

Unchanged Powertrain and Competitive Market Dynamics

Mechanically, the updated Honda Elevate remains identical to its predecessor, relying on Honda's established powertrain configuration. Under the hood, the SUV continues to be driven by the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine, capable of producing 121 PS of peak power and 145 Nm of torque. Transmission choices remain a 6-speed manual gearbox and a Advanced Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) with paddle shifters, maintaining an emphasis on linear power delivery and fuel efficiency.

Safety equipment continues to be a core pillar of the Elevate platform. The SUV retains its comprehensive safety suite, featuring six airbags as standard across upper trims, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and the Honda Sensing suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The ADAS technology includes Lane Keeping Assist, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Auto High-Beam. With an unladen ground clearance of 220 mm and a boot capacity of 458 liters, the vehicle maintains its practical dimensions.

Industry observers view the update as a necessary strategy to maintain momentum against aggressive competition in the Indian market. The Honda Elevate competes directly with established players such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. Official deliveries for the updated Elevate are expected to commence in the coming weeks across India.
