Heavy rain, rough sea alert issued by IMD

Fishermen have been advised to avoid the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coasts until July 27 due to rough sea conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued high-level weather alerts for several states, warning of intense monsoon activity and extremely heavy rainfall in parts of the country.

The IMD has issued a red alert for Odisha, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall at some places on July 26 and 27. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places on July 28.

An orange alert has been issued for Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat, with forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 26 and 27.

The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Jharkhand from July 26 to 28.

Meanwhile, sea conditions are expected to remain rough to very rough over the North Bay of Bengal and along the Odisha-West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts until July 27.

Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the North Bay of Bengal and along the Odisha-West Bengal-Bangladesh coastal areas until July 27 due to hazardous sea conditions.
