Yavatmal district is currently reeling under the severe impact of a heatwave, with preliminary estimates suggesting that as many as eight people have died due to heatstroke over the past 48 hours. Within the district, three deaths were reported in Digras over the last 24 hours. Additionally, two deaths occurred in Pusad, two in areas adjacent to Yavatmal city, and one in Babhulgaon taluka—all attributed to heatstroke. The exact cause of all these fatalities will be clarified only after the post-mortem reports are available. However, in light of these incidents, the administration has issued a cautionary alert; the Health Department has appealed to citizens to refrain from stepping out of their homes unnecessarily, particularly between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
