Hasina Says She Will Return to Bangladesh

Former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina says she plans to return this year, calling legal cases against her politically motivated.

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said she plans to return to Bangladesh before the end of the year despite facing legal cases, a death sentence and restrictions on the Awami League.

In a television interview, Hasina described the cases against her as politically motivated and alleged that legal proceedings were being used to target her party.

She said her return would focus on restoring democracy, rule of law and political rights in Bangladesh.

Hasina also said the Awami League cannot be eliminated through bans or arrests and claimed the party would regain public support if allowed to participate in a free and fair election.
