Govt assures FIR withdrawal after talks with CJP

CJP on July 25, withdrew its agitation with immediate effect after talks with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.

Following the meeting, the Ministers and CJP representatives addressed a joint press conference. Minister J.P. Nadda said the talks were detailed and constructive, with the student body submitting a written draft outlining four key demands related to the ongoing agitation.

He added that discussions also covered issues such as no retaliatory action against protesters, compensation, and consideration of the group’s five-point charter.

"Today, they came with a written draft of an agreement in which they presented four points concerning the cases related to the ongoing agitation. In addition, they raised two other demands: that no retaliatory measures should be taken, that compensation should be provided, and that their five-point charter of demands should be considered," said the minister.

He added that these issues were discussed in detail. Following the discussion, the first matter taken up was the essence of their four-point proposal. In summary, CJP sought assurance that no action or FIR would be initiated, and that any FIRs already registered should be withdrawn, whether they had been filed by the Delhi Police or by authorities in BJP-ruled states.

JP Nadda said, "We will also provide them with copies of the FIRs. The government has agreed that, after the FIRs are withdrawn, no further action will be taken in relation to what occurred during the protest. Similarly, in the future, no cases or other legal action will be initiated against the organisers or the protesters on account of their participation in this protest activity."
