Fake currency worth Rs 10 lakh seized in Guwahati; four arrested

Police have arrested four people and seized counterfeit currency worth nearly ₹10 lakh in two separate operations in Guwahati.

In the first operation, the Government Railway Police arrested Dayal Das and Golab Sheikh from Jharkhand at Kamakhya Railway Junction on Wednesday night and recovered fake notes worth ₹7.37lakh. The two accused are currently being questioned by the police.

In another operation, Dispur Police raided Six Mile based on specific intelligence and recovered counterfeit ₹500 notes worth ₹2.56 lakh from a vehicle. Two persons, Debajit Deori and Ajay Vishwakarma, were arrested in connection with the case. Further investigations in both the cases are underway.
