The Election Commission has announced elections for nine seats in the State Legislative Council that are falling vacant. The election for these nine seats is scheduled to be held on May 12, 2026.

For this election, nomination papers may be filed at the Legislature Secretariat up until April 30—on any day other than a public holiday—between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The scrutiny of these nominations will be conducted on May 2. Candidature may be withdrawn until May 4. Subsequently, should the election be contested, voting will take place at the Vidhan Bhavan on May 12, 2026, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Additionally, an election will also be held to fill the seat left vacant following the resignation of Legislative Council member Pragya Satav. The election schedule for this specific seat has been announced in alignment with the schedule for the aforementioned nine seats; consequently, should this election be contested, voting for this seat will also be held at the Vidhan Bhavan on May 12, 2026, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
