The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted raids at the premises of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA and former minister Madan Mitra in connection with a recruitment scam involving local civic bodies in West Bengal. Simultaneous search operations are being carried out at seven locations linked to him in Kolkata.

This action is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged illegal recruitment within local civic bodies. The investigative agency has alleged that bribes were accepted to secure jobs for ineligible candidates and that there were widespread irregularities in the recruitment process. According to the ED, allegations regarding appointments made in exchange for cash and gold are also being probed.

Reports indicate that these raids are being conducted in connection with cases involving more than 125 alleged illegal appointments.
