Demand surges for Indian mangoes across Europe in summer

The arrival of the "King of Fruits" brings a taste of home to the Indian diaspora across Europe. Premium Indian mango varieties like Alphonso, Kesar, Banganapalle, and Dussehri are currently being flown directly from Indian orchards to major European hubs, selling quickly due to high seasonal demand.

As the summer season officially kicks in Europe, the Indian diaspora eagerly awaits that one notification that the king of fruits and the national fruit of India has arrived in their local stores.

India exports about 30,000 metric tonnes of mangoes each year, valued at approximately USD 56.50 million. While the UAE is the top export destination, in Europe, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, and Spain are witnessing surging demand for Alphonso, Kesar, and Banganapalle. And although one mango costs 300 Indian rupees, that doesn’t stop people from enjoying their favourite fruit.

Apart from retail customers, Indian mangoes have found their way into the kitchens and restaurants of Europeans, who are using them in various preparations.

Indian mangoes are tantalising the taste buds of Europeans, and they are enjoying the different varieties and mango fusion dishes. Looks like India has to share more of its produce with the world.
