The Delhi High Court has passed an important order in the case related to the health of Ladakh-based social activist and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk. The court has directed that Wangchuk be shifted to the Medanta hospital of her choice and has also directed the hospital to constitute a special panel of expert doctors for her treatment. All medical reports of Wangchuk will be submitted to this panel.

The matter was heard before a bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Kariya.

During the hearing, the Solicitor General told the court that the government has no objection to Wangchuk being admitted to Medanta Hospital. However, he clarified that the government's position is that he should not be discharged from the hospital against the advice of the doctors.

The Solicitor General also pointed out to the court that some people around Wangchuk are trying to take him out of the hospital, which could have serious consequences. He said that Wangchuk has the right to choose the hospital and doctor of his choice, but he should not be discharged from the hospital against medical advice.

Meanwhile, the Solicitor General also raised the question of who would be responsible for Wangchuk's security if he returned to the protest site. He stated that the government cannot take any risk regarding his security.

After reviewing the medical reports and discussing with the doctors, the court noted that all the doctors were unanimous in their view that Wangchuk's health needed to be monitored continuously. Some doctors suggested that this monitoring should be done in the hospital so that immediate treatment could be provided as and when required.

After hearing arguments from all sides, the court ordered Wangchuk to be shifted to Medanta Hospital. However, the Solicitor General objected to this order, telling the court that discussions had already been held with the government in this regard.
