Leaders of the Council of Churches in Mizoram have stated that they consider The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 to be unsafe for Christians and various organizations, declaring their resolve to continue opposing it.

Speaking to media persons today at the Aizawl Press Club, leaders of the Council of Churches in Mizoram noted that while the new Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill 2026 drafted by the Central Government contains many beneficial points, they believe there are harmful hidden provisions within it.

They stated that although the FCRA was originally designed to ensure proper utilization of funds coming from abroad, they object to provisions embedded within this law that could allow the confiscation of land, buildings, schools, and hospitals owned by churches and various organizations using foreign funds.

Expressing their determination to oppose the new law with all their effort to prevent its passage, the Council of Churches in Mizoram announced plans to hold a protest march in Aizawl on August 11 to demonstrate against this bill.
