The Indian Navy's capability to monitor and neutralize enemy submarines has been further enhanced. Today, 'INS Malvan'—the second warship in the 'Mahe' class of Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC)—was officially inducted into the Indian Navy at the Karwar Naval Base in Karnataka.

Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, attended the induction ceremony as the chief guest. Now part of the Indian Navy's fleet, 'INS Malvan' is tasked with detecting and engaging enemy submarines in shallow waters.

Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi, 'INS Malvan' is considered a significant achievement under India's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative. More than 80 percent of the materials and systems used in this warship are indigenous. Furthermore, the vessel demonstrates India's advanced capabilities in warship design, construction, and the integration of various systems.
