Assam Governor Reviews Flood Situation

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya reviewed the overall flood situation in Assam at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday.

The meeting focused particularly on the flood-hit districts of Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat. Senior officials from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the Governor’s Secretariat and the Assam State Disaster Management Authority attended the meeting.

The Governor was briefed on the affected areas, relief camps, rescue operations, supply of essential items, restoration of damaged infrastructure and the government’s relief measures.

The Governor directed all departments to ensure uninterrupted rescue and relief operations and timely assistance to all affected people.

He also stressed the need to ensure adequate relief materials, safe shelter, clean drinking water, healthcare and other essential services.
