Assam flood situation worsens; Over 22,000 people affected

Heavy rainfall in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh has triggered flooding across several parts of Assam. According to the latest update from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), six districts are currently affected by floods.

The affected districts are Dhemaji, Nalbari, Dibrugarh, Chirang, Lakhimpur and Kokrajhar. A total of 96 villages under 11 revenue circles remain inundated.

So far, 22,124 people have been affected by the floods, while nearly 1,690 hectares of agricultural land have been damaged. District administrations have set up relief and rescue camps at various locations to assist the affected people.
