Assam Flood Situation Worsens, 11 districts affected

The flood situation in Assam has worsened following incessant rainfall, with news areas reeling under water. According to the latest data from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, 11 districts and 36 revenue circles are currently affected by floods.

Jorhat, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Golaghat, Tinsukia, Biswanath, Nagaon, Kamrup, and Karbi Anglong are among the affected districts.

Around 758 villages have been inundated, affecting over 3.10 lakh people. Over 14,000 hectares of agricultural land has been affected. More than 12,000 people are currently staying in 52 relief camps.

According to latest preliminary report, as on 21th July, 2026; 10:00 AM one fatality from Charaideo has been reported.

The Brahmaputra, Buri Dihing, Dikhou, Disang and Dhansiri rivers are flowing above the danger mark at several locations. The Dikhow River is also flowing above the danger level in Sivasagar. Due to continuous increase of water level of River Dikhow at Sivasagar, citizens have been advised to stay away from the river.

NDRF, SDRF, police, civil administration, Army, paramilitary forces and emergency services are continuing rescue and relief operations in the affected areas. Train routes and schedules have also been changed by the Northeast Frontier Railway due to the flood situation.
