Assam Flood Situation Remains Critical; 11 Districts Affected, 47 Dead

The flood situation in Assam remains unchanged, with 11 districts currently affected. According to the latest data from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, parts of Golaghat, Hojai, Kamrup, Charaideo, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Nagaon, Kamrup Metropolitan, Karbi Anglong and Tinsukia districts are inundated.

A total of 883 villages across 37 revenue circles are under water, affecting more than 7.21 lakh people. Around 25,375 hectares of agricultural land have also been damaged.

Six people have died in the past 24 hours, taking the overall flood-related death toll in the state to 47. The administration has set up 358 relief camps and distribution centres, where more than 24,000 people are currently taking shelter.

The Burhi Dihing, Dikhow, Dhansiri, Disang and Kushiyara rivers are flowing above the danger level. Rescue and relief operations are being carried out by the NDRF, SDRF, police, civil administration, Army, Air Force, paramilitary forces and emergency response teams.
