Following the resounding victory of the BJP-led NDA in the Assam Assembly elections, Himanta Biswa Sarma today took the oath of office as the state's Chief Minister for the second time. In a grand ceremony held in Guwahati, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to him.

The grandeur of this swearing-in ceremony was underscored by the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself graced the occasion to witness this historic moment. Accompanying him were several Union Ministers, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP National President Nitin Nabin.

The presence of Chief Ministers from various NDA-ruled states, along with senior leaders of the alliance, helped project this new chapter in Assam's political journey as a powerful message on the national stage.

Alongside Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, four other senior leaders also took the oath as ministers; the selection process carefully took into account the representation of alliance partners as well as regional balance.

The ministers inducted into Himanta's cabinet include Rameshwar Teli—the BJP MLA from Duliajan and a prominent face within the party—Assam Gana Parishad MLA Atul Bora, BPF MLA Charan Boro (representing the Bodoland region), and Ajanta Neog, a senior female BJP MLA from Golaghat. The swearing-in ceremony was marked by immense enthusiasm among the workers of the BJP and its allies.
