On the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, the entire state of Maharashtra is resounding with the sound of Vitthunaam, and lakhs of Warkaris have gathered in Pandharpur. On this occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis performed the official Mahapuja of Lord Vitthal and Mother Rukmini this morning.

This year's Mahapuja was graced by a Warkari couple, Babasaheb Mane and Prabhavati Mane, from Dharashiv district. After the Mahapuja, they were felicitated by the Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Temple Committee.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed that the development of the Shri Vitthal-Rukmini temple area will be done through the 'Pandharpur Corridor'. This project will be implemented to provide modern facilities keeping in mind the increasing number of devotees visiting the temple every year. He assured that this work will be completed in the next two and a half years by properly rehabilitating everyone, taking care that no injustice will be done to anyone.

Stating that although it was not possible to directly serve Vitthuraya, serving the farmers and the warakaris is the same as serving Vitthal, the Chief Minister said that the state government has waived off the loans of 56 lakh farmers this year and that the government is making efforts to ensure that farmers can perform the wari of Pandhari with satisfaction.

Meanwhile, Dindis who created awareness on issues like water conservation, sanitation, environmental protection, plastic-free farming and tree conservation were felicitated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with the 'Shri Vitthal Nirmal Dindi' award.
