Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed Amazon CEO Andy Jassy in Mumbai today. During the meeting, the long-standing partnership between Maharashtra and Amazon, as well as Amazon's contribution to the state's digital transformation, were reviewed.

Chief Minister Fadnavis praised Amazon's decision to establish its first cloud infrastructure region in India—located in Mumbai—back in June 2016. He noted that the collaboration between Maharashtra and Amazon has strengthened significantly over the past decade; as Maharashtra emerges as the country's technology capital, Amazon has proven to be a key partner in this journey.

An update was provided regarding the satisfactory progress of expansion projects in Maharashtra, involving an investment of $8.3 billion under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with AWS. This represents Amazon's largest investment in a single state and is expected to generate approximately 83,100 jobs in India.

Amazon has established robust physical infrastructure in the state, serving customers both domestically and internationally through six fulfillment centers and over 200 delivery stations. Additionally, more than 22,000 entrepreneurs and small businesses from Thane, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolhapur are exporting to global markets through Amazon's platform.

Chief Minister Fadnavis also commended Amazon's commitment to social responsibility in the realm of environmental conservation. He specifically highlighted initiatives such as a ₹10 crore investment in the Vaitarna water conservation zone, the planting of 3 lakh trees in the Western Ghats, $1.2 million in aid for the conservation of the flamingo habitat in Thane Creek, and skill training for lakhs of youths across the state.

Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that he looks forward to even broader collaboration with Amazon for the holistic development of Maharashtra in the future.
