Amarnath Yatra from Jammu temporarily suspended due to bad weather...

In view of the possibility of rain, landslides, rockfalls and other obstacles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and the Shri Amarnath Yatra route, the Shri Amarnath Yatra has been temporarily suspended due to security reasons.

According to officials, the movement of pilgrims from Jammu for the Shri Amarnath Yatra was suspended on Saturday due to rain and bad weather in some parts of Kashmir, including Ramban district. As a precautionary measure, no fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed to leave from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in view of the prevailing weather conditions and road conditions.

Meanwhile, the 28th batch of 1,202 pilgrims who had visited the holy cave and were staying at the Baltal base camp were allowed to return towards Jammu. These pilgrims left for Jammu in 44 vehicles.

The returning group includes 867 men, 251 women, one child, 79 monks and four nuns.

The administration is continuously monitoring the weather and road conditions, with the safety of pilgrims as its top priority. Officials said the situation will be reviewed before allowing further movement of pilgrims from Jammu.
