Following a major fire incident in Lucknow, a drive to inspect coaching institutes across the state is being carried out on strict orders of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Joint teams comprising officers of the police, administration, fire brigade, development authorities and electrical safety department are verifying whether safety standards and norms are being followed.

More than 100 coaching institutes have been sealed so far during this statewide campaign due to non-compliance with safety rules and norms.

More than 30 institutions have been sealed in Kanpur's Kakadev, a major educational hub. During the inspection, it was found that classes were being conducted illegally in the basement parking spaces of many buildings and that their fire safety 'No Objection Certificates' (NOCs) were invalid.

Meanwhile, in Prayagraj, the Chief Fire Officer informed that out of 97 registered coaching institutes, only 15 had valid fire NOCs. As a result, the development authority sealed the institute 'Khan Global Studies' in the 'Civil Lines' area.

As part of this campaign, which is ongoing in districts like Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Meerut and Agra, officials are checking various safety norms like fire safety equipment, emergency exits, structural strength of the building and fire NOC.

The state government has clarified that this campaign will continue to ensure the safety of students and strict adherence to prescribed standards.
