Around 115 vessels carrying nearly 2,500 seafarers have been safely evacuated from the Strait of Hormuz since June 23 amid heightened security concerns in the Gulf region, according to the International Maritime Organization.

The UN maritime body's Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said the evacuations were completed over the past three and a half days to ensure the safety of crews navigating one of the world's busiest shipping routes. He also mentioned that the evacuated vessels and their crews had safely exited the Strait of Hormuz.
