221 Bangladeshis Rescued from Cambodia Scam Hubs

A total of 221 Bangladeshi nationals rescued from cyber scam compounds in Cambodia have been repatriated over the past four days, raising concerns over human trafficking and overseas recruitment oversight.

The latest group of 78 victims arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday, joining 143 others who returned earlier this week. Many said they were lured with promises of well-paying jobs but were instead trafficked to cyber scam centres and forced to participate in online fraud operations.

The incident has renewed scrutiny of migration screening and recruitment processes, with several returnees claiming they travelled with official clearance but were issued only short-term visas and never received valid work permits. Authorities say thousands of Bangladeshis may still be stranded in Cambodia under difficult conditions awaiting rescue and repatriation.
