A fire broke out at an animation center in a multi-story building in the Aliganj area of Lucknow today, killing 15 students and injuring 8 others, two of whom are critically injured. The injured have been admitted to the KGMU Trauma Center for treatment. The deceased students ranged in age from 14 to 18. President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who arrived at the scene, stated that the fire broke out inside the building and spread rapidly, trapping the students inside. Fire brigade teams, police personnel, and district administration officials arrived at the scene to control the fire and began rescue and relief operations. Mr. Pathak stated that a high-level investigation has been ordered and that strict action will be taken against those responsible. He stated that the government stands with the affected families and will provide all possible assistance in every situation. The Prime Minister expressed grief over the accident in a social media post and stated that the administration is providing all possible assistance for relief and rescue operations. Mr. Modi announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 each to the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. The Chief Minister directed officials to provide all possible assistance to the affected families and arrange for proper treatment for the injured. The Chief Minister inspected the site and directed the Director General of Police and the Additional Chief Secretary, Home, to submit a detailed report on the entire incident. He also visited KGMU to inquire about the condition of the injured and directed officials to ensure proper treatment. Several leaders, including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Governor Anandiben Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, and BSP chief Mayawati, expressed grief over the loss of life in the fire. Ms. Mayawati stressed the need to take necessary steps to prevent such incidents.
