Yavatmal district has achieved remarkable performance in the field of road safety, securing first place in the state. Comparative statistics released by the Maharashtra government have revealed that the state recorded the highest reduction of 21 percent in road accidents between January and June 2026.

According to statistics, 467 road accidents, 265 deaths and 326 injuries were reported in the district from January to June 2025. In the same period in 2026, the number of accidents, deaths and injuries has increased to 367, 212 and 229. This has resulted in a 21 percent reduction in accidents, 20 percent in deaths and 30 percent in injuries.

This reduction was attributed to strict action against speeding, drunk driving, and non-use of helmets and seatbelts, and extensive public awareness campaigns. In addition, accident-prone areas were surveyed and reflective signs, road markings, cats' eyes, and other safety measures were installed.

Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kumar Chinta, safe driving, adherence to speed limits and traffic rules were emphasized by interacting with ST, truck, lorry, private passenger transport and autorickshaw drivers. Road safety awareness campaigns were also implemented at schools, colleges and village levels.

On this occasion, Superintendent of Police Kumar Chinta appealed to drivers to strictly follow traffic rules, not to drive under the influence of alcohol, to use helmets and seat belts regularly, and to cooperate with the police for safe transportation.
