Search and rescue operations resumed on Wednesday morning to trace five labourers who went missing after a massive landslip at the Kozhikode–Wayanad twin tunnel project site near Meenakshi Bridge at Kalladi.

The rescue teams continued operations despite intermittent rainfall and the threat of further mudslides in the area.

The missing workers are employees of Dileep Buildcon Ltd, the contracting company executing the twin tunnel project.

Chief Minister V D Satheesan is expected to visit the site on Wednesday to review the rescue efforts and hold discussions with officials overseeing the operation.

Agriculture Minister T Siddique and Revenue Minister A P Anil Kumar had reached the district on Tuesday night to coordinate the rescue mission.
